STAN'S ATHLETES BRING THE HEAT TO THE ICEMAN COMETH CHALLENGE
Traverse City, Michigan is home to the Iceman Cometh Challenge, which for many athletes is the final event of their busy schedules. Racing from March until November can be demanding on both the riders and their equipment, but thankfully our Stan's athletes were ready for the challenge. Both Chloe Woodruff and Geoff Kabush took the top step and claimed the last major domestic mountain bike result of 2018.
Wait what? Geoff won on a drop bar bike? Geoff's been known to push the envelop when it comes to equipment choices, and last weekend he lived up to his reputation. Fellow racers and spectators alike took notice when he toed the line on a curly bar'd bike. Geoff took a gamble and decided to race his Open Cycles U.P. rolling on a 27.5" Valor Pro wheelset with 2.1" Maxxis Aspen tires. Riding at just 20psi, Geoff had the fitness, skills and equipment needed to take the win.

Chloe Woodruff and Sofia Gomez Villafane had fantastic rides in the women's field while taking a more traditional approach to their equipment choice. Chloe, Sofia and their Podium SRD wheelsets finished in first and second in a stacked field. Chloe will begin to prepare for 2019 now, while Sofia will continue to race cyclocross. She has been having a break through year racing for the Pivot/Maxxis presented by Stans/DNA Cycling team.
