JANKA STEVKOVA

Coming from a basketball background I started to ride the bike during my studies at the University in Poprad in 1996. My first mountainbike race was organized by local ski school and I raced my friend’s bike there.

I won my first mountainbike cross-country Slovak national title in 1998. At that time I had no idea how many experiences I will enjoy with cycling in following years.

Racing Olympic games MTB race in Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 and London 2012 was rewarding not only to me, but to all my friends and supporters.

I am multiple National champion in MTB crosscountry and marathon, cyclocross, road cycling and individual road time trial with many podiums at international events during my 20 years of cycling.

I finished Cape Epic 3 times and placed 5th at the 2016 European mountainbike marathon championships in Sigulda, Latvia. My best cross country World cup result was 10th place at Pietermaritzburg, South Africa in 2009.

Never raced as professional rider. I am a member of Outsiterz cycling and Ultimate frisbee club.

Getting married in 2013 and having a daughter Hanka my life became more interesting, the cycling stays part of it.

Outside of cycling I like to go cross country skiing and hiking, always in the company of my trail dog Gaia.

Hoping to win a long battle to equal women and men cycling in Slovakia I never get bored.
